7. Jinx

The episode: Drug Testing

The players: Jim and Pam

The prank: It’s not so much a prank as a game, but I like it and it’s my countdown so there. Pam jinxes Jim. Jim owes Pam a Coke. The Coke machine is empty, so Jim can’t pay Pam. He cannot speak until Pam gets her Coke–the rules of jinx are unflinchingly rigid. Pam spends the rest of the day trying to get Jim to break, but our boy is stronger than he looks. In fact, Jim is the master of not speaking and even brings out the fake crying at one of Michael’s train wreck staff meetings. He almost breaks at Pam’s earnest, “You can tell me anything.” What a loaded sentence for our love-struck puppy.

Anyway, Pam gets fed up with not being able to talk to Jim all day (not being able to discuss Dwight walking around with a coffee cup of urine was torture) and buys the Coke for herself. It’s a cute Jim-Pam moment, and it never fails to make me smile.
