Names that rival Renesmee

August 8, 2008

I’m not sure how it came up, but amelie and I were (as usual) e-mailing each other back and forth instead of working, and we started coming up with names that were as bad as “Renesmee.” Mostly by putting two random names together and seeing what we could come up with. Here’s what we’ve got so far.

  1. Libricia (Libby & Patricia)
  2. Wesoug (Wesley & Doug)
  3. Horothy (Horace & Timothy)
  4. Vanargaret (Vanessa & Margaret)
  5. Elizalotte (Elizabeth & Charlotte)
  6. Herboody, Woodbert,Bertoody, Wooher, Bertwood (Herbert & Woody)–they were too good, we couldn’t pick just one!
  7. Pickenerzie (Piper & Mackenzie)
  8. Euner (Abner & Eugene)
  9. Jubarabudy (Judy & Barbara)
  10. Pelvin (Peter & Melvin)

Anyone care to add more??!

    Lmao. I’m not exactly sure how I found your page but I’m glad I did. These names are so disgusting, lol. I’m sure Stephenie Meyer would use these for her next book. Ahah. She probably would. (;

I know! I still can’t understand WHY she would EVER think that Renesmee was a clever or cute name. It’s horrendous.

are you daft?! Most people with a degree in literature wouldn’t be able to spell that piece of GARBAGE! Stephanie Meyer is such a terrible writer that Stephen King himself said she can’t write worth a darn! And if he says that……. it really means something.

Ms. Meyer needs to go to a few writing classes at the community college before she puts out another book. I can write better than her. To prove it, just look at yourself. You’re still reading this aren’t you!? HA

Renesmee is a beautiful name! And im not kidding. Its cute, and everything! Stephanie meyer did a great job naming her! And if u read the book bella was going to name the baby edward if it was a boy. But any way, my point is that renesmee is a beautiful name! And u dont have to say mean things about the name. Its just not nice.

Renesmee is a retarded name, sorry. Everyone’s got a right to their own opinion, but I think you’re in the minority on that one.

And I think she was going to name the baby Edward Jacob in the book if I remember correctly. But I could be very wrong, because I’ve tried to scrub that awful book out of my memory. But Edward Jacob would have been MUCH more acceptable than Renesmee.

And if you haven’t figured it out, we aren’t always nice on this blog. Sorry. Go to the Lexicon if you don’t want to read criticisms.

brooklyn, the sad thing is, we’ve had a lot more comments from Renesmee fangirls that are even worse, but we decided that it was getting old and we didn’t approve them for posting. One person said the names we made up are HORRIBLE (well DUH, that was the whole effing point!) And apparently, since we don’t like the name Renesmee, we should NEVER voice our opinion on anything ever again, and we’re horrible people, and we’re going to burn in hell.

    Nice.

I REALLY don’t mean to be mean, but I’m just going to be blunt. If you’re that obsessed with Twilight–that you’d name your kid “Renesmee”–then you’ll probably never get married. The vast majority of guys kind of hate the book. (Because face it. Edward does NOT really exist, and most guys do NOT act like him. Which is probably a good thing, because no matter how much I like the first book, you’ve gotta admit it: when you get down to it, Edward’s kinda creepy. He watches Bella sleep at night. He fantasizes about her blood. He’s WAY too overbearing and controlling. Does any girl REALLY want that? No. Not really. Even though it might be nice to read about every now and then.) And I don’t know a single guy that would ever name their child “Renesmee.” That kid would be ridiculed for the rest of their life, and everyone would think their parents were morons that were a little too obsessed with Twilight.

    Lisa & Amelie

First off your names aren’t that great to be nocking someone elses. You can voice your opions could realy care less about that. I have a not so commen name. Even though I am a real person there is probably some poeple who are out there that have the name Renesmee.

If you were the one who came up with Renesmee, you wouldn’t wanting people to be nockingt it. That would hurt your feelings as an Authore and as a person. I’m pretty shoure that a lot can be sad about your names and if some one Singlehandedly pointed your name out nad making fun of you. You would deffiently be pissed off.

You don’t have to be rude to get your point across!!!!

Second, no one with a brain would come up with that name.

      Third, you miss-spelled “sure”

also, my name is terrible, I will admit that. But it reminds me of the name hellen keller gave her dog. it’s name was “Aaaarrrraaagghhh”

Um, sorry, my name isn’t Lisa. Not sure where you got that from.

And our names aren’t SUPPOSED to be good. They’re SUPPOSED to suck–that’s the whole point. They’re bad names, just like Renesmee is a bad name.

Speaking of Renesmee, no, I don’t think there are that many people with the name Renesmee out there. If there were, I think we would have heard about it. They would have been like, “Awesome, my very rare and unusual and crappy name is in a BOOK! COOL!” So the only people you will ever see named Renesmee are going to be people whose moms thought that Breaking Dawn was actually a good book and worship the ground that Stephenie Meyer walks on–which we obviously don’t.

And when you’re a writer, you take the risk of people hating your work. You get insulted and criticised. You get negative reviews. You usually get a little bit of praise, too. That’s all a part of it. I’m sure Stephenie Meyer is fine. She’s made an assload of money off of this series, after all. I think her ego can take the hit.

And sorry–if you’ve read any of our other blogs, you would have noticed that we kind of enjoy being rude. Deal with it, or don’t read it. A LOT of people hated the book, and hated the name Renesmee. I think you are in the minority on this one.

Fuckin’ A, kegger. However, I think you and I are in the minority about that name. I mean, obviously everyone else in the world loves it and hugs it and calls it George, and we’re Satan on earth for thinking it’s a crappy-ass name.

Also, my name isn’t really amelie. Just for the record.

Also also, if it’s rude for us to make fun of a fictional name, isn’t it also rude to say that our names aren’t so great?

Actually, i think a name isn’t supposed to be boring and ordinary. I say the more unusal and beautiful the better!! At least stephanie meyer put some imagination into naming Renesmee, most parents just pick the first name that comes into their head, so long as it sounds ok.

here are some other great names!!(quite a few are from other books)

    Stelmaria
    Amoret
    Andromeda
    Cleopatra
    Nymphradora
    Cassiopheya
    Seraphina/Serafina
    Caterina
    Raphaela
    Anastasia
    Nerissa
    Christiana
    Ingrid
    Porphyria

and more but i cant think of any right now.

Thank you, Cat, for not saying that we’re idiots for disliking the name Renesmee. I understand that she wanted her to have a unique name, but I think there are other names besides Renesmee that could have gotten the job done!

Buahaha I laughed and laughed when stumbling on this site. Renesmee is the most horrible name I’ve heard so far- and I didn’t even twig that Carlie was the combination of Carlisle and Charlie til my partner pointed it out.

I LOVE that fangirls are all miffed and indignant that you’re ragging on ‘Renesmee’ (particularly the one who can’t spell and has no idea of punctuation or grammar, leading me to suspect she’s 15) because in all honesty, it’s an absolute trainwreck of a name and really, the rancid icing on the heinous cake that is Stephenie Meyer and the Twilight series.

    End rant.

Cat, most of those names were either created purely from an author\s imagination or else were cultural names (Ingrid? Really?). I actually think on its own “re NEZ may” is not too bad for a fictional character. I think it’s incredibly lame of Stephanie Meyer to have chosen it because…

    a) COME ON. Renee and esmee? You can’t decide on one person to name it after? Don’t get cute, name it Esmee Rene Cullen, etc. It’s like she can’t choose who she likes best (a la naming a boy “Edward Jacob” after all the issues they went through)

    b) when i read the name I immediately though “this is why 18-year-olds (is she 19 yet in the book? No, dear lord, edward’s only 17…?) should not be having chioldren.

It reminds me of those teens who have babies and then feel the need to name them “diamond” (i know one) or “kaytelynne”.

I foud it funny when i read it, and then I realized she was serious.

I don’t know if that was clear, but I think SM was just either lazy (for not creating a new name if she wanted to be clever) or just very sad (was renesmee planned? Rene is not a popular or a romantic name. please tell me that she did not think of doing this from the beginning)

    Tendish & Biscuit

For a start, the fact that you put “Renesmee” into the search engine, even though you disliked the name would suggest you were looking for an argument, which means you have far too much time on your hands, and you probably spent hours structuring your rant, so just for that effort i’ll reply.

I think you’re determind to hate the name, simply because it’s:
    a. Created by an author, for a book
    b. just to try and be different
    c. Because it’s a mixture of two other names

If you weren’t so focused on the fact it was made up by Stephanie, and just looked at the name itself you will find it is actually a charming and rather pretty name. Also, every name was made up by someone at one point in history, so your earlier point was a little stupid. Also, many names used in our society today are a mixture of two names, for example Abrianna.

So for gods sake, like it or don’t, as you please but don’t make out its a stupid name just because its against your personal taste, and stop critising everyone who likes it. Remember, we aren’t all Stephanie Meyer fans,

    Thank you

    x

Mm, no I think you’ll find, I don’t find the name charming or rather pretty, regardless of who coined it. It’s an awful sounding name.

I’m surprised- does it take you hours to structure your rants? I find it rather easy to express my opinions.

Why else would someone dislike a name, other than it being against personal taste. That is the whole point of this entire thread. ‘ABRIANNA’ is also an awful name. =D

Nope, it doesn’t take us any time to write a rant. That’s one of the easiest things there is to write, Tendish. And one of the most fun.

I also think Abrianna is an awful name (and I’ve NEVER heard of anyone named that before). I’ve heard of Adriana. But not Abrianna.

After months and months of agonizing soul searching, I have come to the conclusion that Renesmee is, in fact, still a ridiculous name, and I, in fact, still do not like it or the book in which it was created.

And I have to say, I’m still surprised that nearly a year after we wrote this particular blog, we’re still getting comments on it. Cool and all but… wow. Obviously the name Renesmee really stirs up debate.

I agree that Renesmee is a terrible name, typical of teen mothers who have no idea what they’re doing. Breaking Dawn was the worst book of the series. I like the first three, but I can see clearly why most people hate them, Stephenie Meyers is… not a very good author, and this is coming from a fan.
